Avondale Estates Bathroom
Project Overview
When this family in Avondale Estates approached Blue Juniper Construction, they wanted to transform an outdated primary bathroom into a modern spa‐like space. The existing layout was cramped, storage was minimal, and fixtures were dated. Their goals: clean lines, more storage, better lighting, modern finishes, and a relaxing atmosphere.

Case Study - Details
Challenges
-
The original plumbing placement limited repositioning of the tub and shower without major structural work.
-
The room was modest in size, so maximizing space while maintaining luxury was key.
-
The clients preferred a modern aesthetic, but needed durability and ease of maintenance for everyday use.
Design & Material Choices
-
A grey double vanity with matching tower was chosen to add storage without overwhelming the room; the grey finish ties into modern style while hiding wear.
-
Matte black fixtures were selected for visual contrast and durability.
-
White quartz countertops deliver a clean, bright look and resist staining.
-
A drop‐in tub with a Roman faucet was included for comfort, and a marble shower niche provides both function (shelf space) and style.
-
Custom glass shower enclosure keeps the space feeling open and allows the beauty of the tile and niche to be showcased.
Process & Timeline
-
Design and material selection: approx. 2–3 weeks (client consultations, fixture sourcing).
-
Deconstruction, plumbing adjustments, and rough‐in: ~1 week.
-
Tile work, fixture installation, glass enclosure and finishes: ~2½ weeks.
-
Total timeline: about 5-6 weeks from start to finish.
Outcome & Client Feedback
-
The remodel achieved the client’s goals: the space feels larger, brighter, and far more functional.
-
Storage has increased significantly thanks to the double vanity + tower combo.
-
The clean, modern aesthetic with matte black accents gets compliments for sophistication.
-
Maintenance is easier—the quartz surface resists staining, and fewer grout lines in the shower make cleaning simpler.
Key Lessons / Takeaways
-
In bathrooms, matching cabinets or towers to the vanity helps avoid visual clutter.
-
Contrasting fixtures (like matte black) can make a strong style statement with minimal risk when combined with neutral surfaces.
-
Investing in quality glass enclosures and materials upfront pays off in durability and aesthetics.
