Case Study - Details

Client Goals:

  • Create a sleek, accessible bathroom that feels spacious and modern.

  • Install a curbless shower for barrier-free access and seamless visual flow.

  • Include high-end comfort features: heated floors, digital valves for precise water temperature control.

  • Use durable materials and premium finishes that elevate the room without overwhelming it.

Challenges:

  • Existing tile & floor layout needed modification to accommodate curbless shower slope and linear drain.

  • Plumbing & electrical systems required updating to support heated floors and digital shower valves.

  • Ensuring water containment and drainage with a floor-level, barrier-free shower while keeping surrounding floor surfaces safe and non-slippery.

  • Balancing light, open design with sufficient privacy, maintenance ease, and long-term durability.

Design & Material Solutions

  • Curbless Shower with Linear Drain

    • A floor-level curbless shower entrance was designed with a linear drain placed along the center of the shower for efficient drainage, minimal visual disruption, and easy access.

  • Digital Shower Valve System

    • Integrated digital shower control valves allow precise control of temperature and flow, enhancing comfort and energy efficiency.

  • Heated Flooring

    • Under-floor radiant heating installed in the entire bathroom, especially through luxury tile surfaces, to provide cozy warmth underfoot.

Premium Finishes & Fixtures

  • Marble mosaic tile in the shower adds texture and visual interest. Polished chrome fixtures maintain a clean, bright aesthetic. A one-piece toilet and foot shower complete the luxury touches.

Results & Impact

  • The curbless shower opened up the space visually and improved accessibility, making it easier to enter without stepping over a barrier.

  • Digital shower valves deliver consistent, precise water temperature and enhance user comfort.

  • Heated flooring provides a luxurious touch, making mornings more comfortable, especially during cooler seasons.

  • Combined with polished chrome fixtures, a marble mosaic tile accent, and a one-piece toilet, the bathroom feels both high-end and highly functional.

  • The remodel increased the space’s usability, safety, and overall aesthetic appeal — matching modern expectations for Atlanta bathroom remodeling.

Client Feedback:

  • “I love how the curbless shower and heated floors turn this into more than just a beautiful bathroom — it’s a comfort zone. Blue Juniper nailed both form and function.”

Key Takeaways / Lessons Learned

  • Planning the slope and drainage is critical for curbless showers: proper subflooring and linear drain placement are essential to prevent water pooling.

  • Heat and tech add value: features like heated flooring and digital valves may increase code/plumbing/electrical complexity, but significantly boost comfort and resale appeal.

  • Material compatibility matters: marble mosaic tile and polished chrome look great, but maintenance and slip resistance must be considered in wet zones.

  • Accessibility blended with luxury draws in clients who want style without giving up functionality — a growing trend in bathroom remodeling in Atlanta.
